  • In the context of large investments being planned by the South Asian governments in the road sector; and capacity constraints/challenges faced by their highway agencies to meet this increasing demand, the South Asia Transport Team of the World Bank based in India undertook a Study “A Review of Highways Agencies in the South Asia Region” . The study suggested a framework of capacity and performance indicators, including a roadmap to improve performance of highways agencies in key functional areas through institutionalizing performance monitoring as a management tool. This study was done under the Transport Research Support Program (TRSP), managed by the World Bank and funded by DFID, the Department for International Development of the United Kingdom Government.
